2008 re-cap of favorites

before starting the new year of new photos, i wanted to post a few of my favorites from last year. i had several shots i tried to post that i can't get cropped properly to fit onto my page. still new to this blogging thing & kinda flyin by the seat of my pants & figuring it out as i go! hopefully, i will figure that out soon because it will drive me bananas to be so limited on what i can post.

i had so many great sessions...i can't wait to see what 2009 will bring!

Blogging Virgin

ok, so i've been thinking about starting a blog site for awhile now. and it's january the first, so perfect timing, right? new year, lots of new things to be excited about in my life. i keep thinking i won't know what to say...but anyone who knows me, realizes what a funny thing that is for me to say. am i ever at a loss for words? i decided to start this blog to document my photography business that has been a lifetime work in progress. over the last year things have really picked up & i am excited! there is nothing more rewarding to me than taking a photo that someone falls in love with. i am obsessed with beautiful photographs, mine or otherwise. when i think back, i realize, i always have been. recently i have decided i am no longer going to shoot weddings. professionally i'd like to focus on families, children, maternity & especially newborn 'journalistic' portraiture. of course i am open to any new adventures in photography. i am also taking a turn into a more artistic side of my work due greatly to my new friend, joey (aka puddinghead). she is a PHENOMENAL artist & i am determined to help her get her art out there if i can help in anyway possible. people need to see what she is doing. she has inspired me to achieve another type of creative fulfillment out of my work. to see through different eyes. although i feel like the way i view things through the lens really may not change much, it never hurts to step outside the box & push yourself in an unfamiliar direction. the artistic journey i am venturing out on feels more personal than professional, but you never know where it may lead...

here are a couple of photos joey shot of me last weekend. i hadn't spoken to her in a couple of weeks & when we got on the phone both of us were feeling inspired & dying to get out & shoot something. it was 68 degrees at 10pm in december! we were talking about what & where we would shoot & if we could get someone to model EXTREMELY last minute-as in, 'hey you wana go shoot something now...at 10 at night on a saturday?' of course, a near impossibility, so when joey mentioned she had made a mask she'd been wanting to shoot something with, i told her i'd just let her shoot me...as long as i could leave the mask on for the whole shoot, lol! one thing led to another...& here is some of the finished product. credits to joey todd, aka puddinghead. i guess it's bad that on my very first blog post about my photography i'm posting someone else's work but no worries...mine will follow soon :-) and this is what is inspiring me right now...being a part of someone else's process & being in front of the lens for the first time in a long time has been an interesting way for me to see things.
